Let your imagination flourish and create a fiction story that explores the idea of growth in your own unique way. In your story, the setting (where and when your story takes place), the characters (the people or animals in your story), and the plot (the storyline) are all up to you! If you’re looking for some inspiration, check out the titles below for some story ideas.

(Please select one of the following titles)

Advice for writers

Contest judge, Stephen Hughes, author of ABC Pathways’ textbook “Creative Writing”, offers these tips:

Did you know that even professional authors need a plan when writing a story? They follow “The Writing Process”, which is:

  1. Prewrite and Plan
  2. First Draft
  3. Revise
  4. Edit
  5. Publish

So, before you get started on your entry, try making a mind map of your ideas. This way, you can get everything in order and use only your best ideas! Also, make sure you have a great introduction- this is the part that needs to get the reader’s attention right away!
